Vacuum chambers for solid-phase extraction (SPE) are auxiliary devices for preparing samples via solid-phase extraction, as well as filtering samples using vacuum.

Operating principle of TFE chambers

Negative pressure is created by means of a vacuum pump in a vacuum tank closed by a cap. Solid-phase cartridges for SPE are connected to shut-off valves fitted with a Leur input connector which are mounted into the cap. Due to the difference between the atmosphere pressure and the pressure created in the vacuum tank, the liquid flows through the solid-state cartridge into a container with reduced pressure (vacuum tank). The rate of the sample flow through the solid-state cartridge is regulated by changing the pressure in the tank (the flow rate increases with increasing pressure in the tank).

Application area

Solid-phase extraction is mostly used for liquid sample preparation, extraction of low-volatile and non-volatile samples, as well as preparation of solid samples which have been subjected to solvent extraction previously. SPE is widely used in the analysis of pharmaceuticals and food products, and in the monitoring of environmental objects.

Advantages of ExtraCam cameras

  • Selectivity and specificity;
  • Deeper declustering;
  • High quantitative extraction of the sample under investigation (> 75%);
  • Excellent reproducibility;
  • Easy to handle;
  • Opportunity of optimization;
  • Stretch-out of expensive solvents;
  • Adapted for express test systems;
  • Modern solution.

Accessories for TFE cameras

ExtraCam © cameras are standardly equipped with a holder designed for test tubes of 16 mm diameter with adapters for 1.5 mm vials, but optionally they can be equipped with holders appropriate for any type of laboratory glassware, including flasks. Optionally, it is also possible to supply a device for nitrogen distribution, designed in the form factor of a cap for a solid-phase extraction chamber. In laboratory practice, it gives an opportunity to evaporate samples in the stream of nitrogen, air or inert gas without removing them from the TFE chamber immediately after filtration, but by replacing the cap with a nitrogen distribution device, which eliminates the possibility of confusion, as well as reduces labor costs and analysis time, saves place in the laboratory.
